MS Word hangs, won't even force quit, so I must restart

I have had this problem from the beginning. 75% of the time, when I
quite Word, it will not quit.
I get the spinning ball, and have to restart.

Have you applied at least the 10.1.2 Office update from

?? If so, how long are you waiting? Are you on a network or stand
alone?

The first versions of Office had the anti-piracy method hang
Word/Excel on closing for up to a minute or so waiting for a network
process to time out. SR-1 which is in the 10.1.2 update fixed this.

Have you checked your permissions since installing/updating?

OS 10.2.x: Run the Disk Utility (in the ./Applications/Utilities
folder). From the First Aid tab, click "Repair Disk Permissions".

OS 10.1.5: Run Repair Privileges (same folder, or download from
Apple: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106900
