MS Word in Office 2000 hangs

I recently installed Office 2000 without uninstalling my previous Office 97.
All the other programs in Office 2000 has no problem starting except Word.
It just refuses to start, it hangs. I have tried repairing; un-install &
re-install. Updated from Office 2000 from MS website. Nothing works?

Any suggestions and help?

I use Win XP Home edition.
