MS Word is not in the "open with" list

I receive a Word document (form). I am asked to alter it and do so and email
it back with MS Outlook. The receiver cannot open the document. When I try to
assocaite the document with Word, I cannot find Word in the list but must
browse to it. Even then it does not include it in the list so i cannot
associate this document and resolve the issue once and for all. What do I
need to do?

Is Word installed? Make sure you look under "Microsoft Word" or even (in
Office 2003) "Microsoft Office Word."

Yes. MS Word has been installed. Is there anything else I should check?

In rereading your question, it would appear that the problem is at the
receiver's end. If the file you are sending has a .doc file extension, it
should automatically open in Word. If it does not, then it is the receiver
who needs to reestablish the file association by reregistering Word (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ReRegisterWord.htm).
