Hello,
When opening MS Word docs' I get the following message:

MS Word needs a converter to display the file correctly. Not installed.
Would you like to install?

When attempting to install I get: Error 1706. connot find required files...

What version of Word do you have? What kind of file are you trying to
open, and do you know software program and version was used to create it?

I have Microsoft Word 2002, Version 10.0. Trying to open a MS Word doc. At
this time the software program and version used to create it are unknown. I
will attempt to find out.

If it's not too terribly old, you can get the version by selecting the
Properties view in the File Open dialog.

Word 2003 is part of Office 2003. Word 2002 is part of Office XP. In either
case, you should be able to open it in any Word version from Word 97
forward.

Hi, rj. If the Word document you're trying to open was emailed to you,
then it could have become corrupted in the emailing process, which could
be why Word says it needs a converter to open the file (because Word
can't read the corrupted file). Ask the sender to zip the file and
email it to you again.
