MS Word only runs minimized.

When I start MS Word 2003, or try to open a word document, it will only run
minimized. The icon is displayed in the taskbar but I cannot restore or
maximize the program in a window. I have reinstalled but continue to
experience the problem. All other office programs are operating fine.

Are you sure you can't maximize? If you right-click on the Taskbar button,
do your choices include Maximize and Minimize but not Restore? If so, the
document has opened in a Normal window offscreen. To bring it back, open any
other window, right-click on an empty area of the Taskbar, and choose
Cascade. This should bring the Word window back in view. Use the mouse to
move and size it as desired, then quit Word. When you restart Word, the
window should be where you left it.

I tried clciking on maximize and the only thing which happens is the windows
icon flys off the right side of the screen. When I right click I get restore
and maximize or minimize which ever the window currently isn't. When I click
cascade, all I get is the other windows which are open but not word.

Since the Cascade method didn't work then:

- Right-click the Word task and click "Restore" if necessary
- Right-click again and select "Move"
- Use one of the arrow keys on the keyboard to "lock in" the move
command
- Use your mouse and see if you can move it back to the Desktop

If the above doesn't work then follow the steps in this article for
recreating the Word\Data key in the Registry. Note that all you need
to do is rename/delete the Toolbars value of the key instead of
recreating the entire key:
