MS Word - re-opening recent document (e.g., MyPreciousCV.doc) ren.

Exclusively when I reopen a previously saved document from the Start >
Documents menu, each and every time (using example MyPreciousCV.doc ) Word
opens that document as if its a new document (Document 1.doc)

Why?
Of what is this indicative?
What is the workaround?

Anyone? Who has a) proven solution or b) likely fix to same?

It could be your file association for Word Documents is set to "New"
as the default command rather than open. You could edit the file
association and see if this is the case or simply recreate them using
the following:

- Go to Start/Run
- Type:

winword /r

Note the space before the forward slash. Word will not actually start
but it will recreate various Registry settings such as the file
associations.
