Hi John;

Where are you getting that impression? Save as Web Page creates an .htm
(HTML) file. There is no such thing as an "IE file type" or a "Safari file
type" per se as web browsers aren't really used to create files [although
some are capable of saving web page content as Archives, web pages, text
files, etc.

If you mean that OS X attempts to launch IE when you double-click one of the
HTML files or that the files display an IE logo you need to change your OS X
file association for .htm (and probably .html) files. Control/Right-click
one in Finder, select Get Info, set the Opens With to Safari then click
Change All.

If that isn't the solution you'll need to be more descriptive of the
problem.

Macs have since the beginning used TYPE/CREATOR TAGS. IE gets launched
everything I click the htm files when it should be Safari. This is a issue
with Word as IE is dead on the Mac platform.

I know how to do that. But its a royal PAIN to have to do that every single
time. By your response it appears that Word 2008 also defaults to the IE
TYPE/CREATOR tags.

Hi John:

Answered in your earlier: Apple has deprecated Type and Creator tags: they
are going away. And Microsoft cannot legally use another company's tags.

Cheers
