MS Word Security Options

Hi there

I want to permanently turn off the following options in Word 2003:

Warn before printing, saving or sending a file that contains tracked changes
or comments, also

I want to set the Macro security level to Low

I can do this when I start up Word but if I then close the application and
restart it the changes are back to what they were before i.e. Warn before
printing... and Macro level at Medium.

Frustrated...

Are you working in a corporate, networked environment? Or is this a standalone
installation under your own control?

Hi there,

the work station is part of a virtual development network where all
applications are installed individually as per the request of the client.

In that case, you should contact the system administrator, as it appears the
information is either not being saved when you exit Word, or it's set as "read-
only" so can't be saved.

If I'm not mistaken, these settings are saved in the DATA key in Word's Registry
entry.

If the administrator says you (theoretically) are allowed to make changes there,
then the DATA key may be damaged (and is thus not working correctly - not saving).
In that case, the key needs to be deleted so that Word will recreate (with the
installation defaults) it when you start the application the next time.

Hi Cindy,

tried this but still no joy. Also tried deleting the object key as well I
think it was in the same way but the problem still persists.

Any other ideas?

Thanks for your help.
