MS Word web tool bar, cross-reference problem

I have found your site very useful. Thank you for creating it.

There are a couple of Word annoyance that I have not been able to find a
solution for that probably have a simple one check box solution.

1) When I click on a cross-reference or a line in the table of contents, I
am moved to the corresponding location in the document. That is good. The
problem is the Web tool bar pops up. How do I stop it from popping up?

2) I create a cross-reference by Heading, Paragraph number (no context).
The heading appears and everything looks right. I close the document and
come back to it later. When I open the document later some times when I look
at the cross-reference it is no longer the only the heading but the entire
section of text. Any idea why this is happening and how to stop it? I have
not hit F9 or done anything that I think would trigger this.

Thanks for the help,
Kirk

For (1), see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/BanishWebToolbar.htm

(2) is a little more complicated. When you create a cross-reference, Word
puts a bookmark around the text you cross-referenced. It is then all too
easy to get additional text inside that bookmark. If you press Enter at the
beginning of the paragraph to add a new paragraph above it, the new
paragraph will be inside the bookmark. To be on the safe side, create a new
paragraph by pressing Enter at the end of the previous paragraph instead.
You can repair the existing bookmark, however. Just select the portion of
the paragraph you want cross-referenced and go to Insert | Bookmark. Check
the box for "Hidden bookmarks" and choose the radio button for "Location."
The bookmark that is highlighted is the one created by your cross-reference.
Click Add to reapply it.
