MS Word will only open in safe mode !!!

Hi, Ive just reformatted and installed XP Home and all my software. All
windows updates are installed and current.
Since doing so Word will only open in safe mode, Ive tried reinstalling xp
office and used repair and detect but still have the problem.
Any advice would be appreciated. I have had no problems launching them in
the past (before reformatting my drive
yesterday)
When Word Opens a box appears saying Microsoft Word has encountered a
problem and needs to close, sorry for the inconvenience.
Then a box pops up - Word failed to start correctly last time. Starting
word in safe mode .........
Do you want to start Word in safe mode ? Safe mode starts up ok.
I have ran Windows installer cleanup aswell and reinstalled XP Office but
the problem still exists.
Any help would be appreciated.

I followed this procedure and "you" solved my problem:
<<Try renaming your Normal.dot file (with Word closed – and if Outlook is
your email editor, close Outlook as well, and if you have opened a Word
document within Internet Explorer, close IE too).

For instance, try renaming Normal.dot to Normal.old – and make sure you only
have one Normal.dot file.>>
