MS Word X blurry text HELP

Text in MS Word X appears blurry/fuzzy on the moniter, although it
looks find when printed. Text in MX Excel as well as all other
applications looks fine. Can anyone please help? thank you very
much!

Hope I'm not telling you the obvious. There are at least two places to
look
Word->Preferences->General->Enable Quartz Smoothing (try both - I'm on
a 12" Powerbook and it looks OK with smoothing on at any size I can
resolve the letters at.)
and
System Preferences->Appearance [1} --- fool about with the settings at
the bottom till you get the best result. (I have mine set to 'Medium -
best for flat panel' and smoothing off for 9pt and smaller.

You might want to play with your monitor resolution, although if only
Word is out of focus, that will probably not help much.

It might also help to play with the magnification and view options of
your Word document. Me, I always sit in 'page layout' and set the mag
to 'page width', because I can't stand ugliness on screen. I'll put up
with glacial redraw speeds as long as what is being drawn comes out
un-horrible, which is about the best you can expect from Word.

[1] Might be "General" on Jaguar and earlier.
