MS Word XP - Watermark

I added 'draft' as a watermark to a Word XP document I
was preparing. Now it's finished, I wish to remove it.
But when I go to Format>Printed Watermark, the option is
already on No Watermark, not recognising there is already
one there. If I add another one, it overlays it on
exisitng one. When I then select 'no watermark', it
removes newly added one, but leaves the original one.
I note something odd...the watermark is not on every
page. So have tried to remove it same way from
individual page with no success.

Can someone advise me how to get rid of this persistent
watermark.

Did you put the watermark on using the Headers and Footers option? This is
one way that they can be shown on different pages.
