I'm unable to view an inserted MS Excel file or picture in an MS Word
document unless I go to print review. Why, and how to fix?

In Tools > Options > View, make sure that "Picture placeholders" is
not checked, and that "Drawing" is checked.

Thanks VERY MUCH Jay. I had just about given up on this, but your suggestion
worked. The question for me is, "how did this setting ever get changed in
the first place." Don' know.
