MS Works and MS office compatability

I anm working on a customer's Windows 98 computer that has
MS Works installed. Installed also is Microsoft Word and
Excel 2000 SR1 (Word & Excel Only). When we try to open
Word we get a blue screen. Excel opens up fine. Is there
some sort of compatability issue with Works and Office on
the same computer?
