I have an issue w.r.t. getting the latest Office Update Inventory Tool
Catalog, especially since it doesn't detect MS06-003. Looking at other
newsgroup postings and support forums, I may not be the only one.
If you go to
http://office.microsoft.com/OfficeUpdate/catalog/inventory/InventoryCatalog.html
the page says the tool was updated 01/10/2006. However, if you actually
download the INVCIF.EXE, it contains a catalog dated 11/08/2005.
I'm hoping this gets resolved soon, as tools like the Office Update
Inventory Tool in SMS 2.0's Software Update Services Feature Pack rely on
this catalog being updated. In the "January Security Bulletin Webcast" it
was definitely mentioned that MS06-003 would be detectable by the SMS
Software Update Services Feature Pack (ODT).
I am aware that WSUS and the ITMU for SMS 2003 can detect and update
MS06-003 for Office 2003 and XP. But where does that leave companies who are
still running Office 2000?
Meanwhile, I'm keeping a lookout for an updated INVCIF.EXE.
