MSIEXEC.EXE Invalid Page Fault : O2K

When i double click on the Setup.exe on the O2K CD, I get the following
error:

MSIEXEC.EXE has performed illegal operation - page fault in....

and on pressing OK the installation aborts. I am using Windows 98 2nd Ed.on
a P3 556

Please help.

Hi, ARK:

The first thing I'd try is this:

Delete files in c:\windows\temp (or wherever your temp folder is)
Run a scandisk on the hard drive
Run a disk defragmentation program
Try setup again.

Has it ever worked on this computer? Can you try it with a different CD?
Is this an OEM CD or a retail one?

I deleted MSIEXEC.EXE and some related DLLs, Ran Fix tool for
WIN95_CIH Virus. Now i am able to install it!!!
