msiexec.exe Runtime Error during Office 2003 and 2007 installation

Hello,

Every time I try to install Office 2007 on my XP machine the installation
fails and the following message appears:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exc
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I tried to install Office 2003 and the same thing happened. I've reinstalled
Windows Installer but the problems persists. I've also tried using the
Windows Installer Cleanup Utility but there weren't any reg. references to
Office 2003 or 2007. I have an Office XP currently installed (Could this be
a problem?). What could be wrong? Can anyone
help?
