Msohelp.exe HH.EXE | "HTML Help engine" bobbing window maximize, minimize

-------

I've tired of looking for info. Probably there's no fix except to WAIT for
software fix(es).

Three problems.
1 Using HH.exe help sometimes (?) causes dialer to start. And for Msohelp
and maybe others, ZoneAlarm requests access for Msohelp.exe. Forces me to
make annoying multiple cancellations.

2 some links in the HH page are dead. I'm guessing this is caused by
strict IE settings. I decided to tell ZoneAlarm to permanently restrict
access requests by Msohelp, because allowing access didn't "resurrect" any
of the links. (The links are links to hard disc anyway, according to right
click, Properties.)

3 the window wants to resize to split with the app that called the hh.
And I haven't found any efficient way to switch between those two windows.
It requires a bizarre sequence of multiple maximize and/or minimize of the
variously bobbing sizes these two windows. windows. This resembles a kind of
insane county fair shoot-the-monkey game. Situation gets worse if I have the
macro editor window open.

and
4 Just a gripe. I can't see images in HH files until I open ie to click
toggleimage. And HH files tend to lack img alt text. No fix likely.

WinME, Office 2000

Any ideas?

Before anything else, you should get a version of Windows that actually
works ...

And I haven't found any efficient way to switch between those two windows.

Hold Alt and toggle the Tab key to switch between windows - or tile them!

But I guess you have enough problems and doubt whether "waiting for software
fixes" for what appear to be self inflicted issues, will resolve them - and
like Shane "Mine works fine."

It wont be HH.exe, its the content. A HTML page in the CHM is accessing the
internet.

HH often contains ActiveX Script. You probably blocked it from working.

Some authors include the line
... codebase="hhctrl.ocx#Version=4,74,9273,0
in the ActiveX <object > statement. If you have an old
copy of windows and HH then this will force the page
to run off to the Internet to check for a new version of HH.

and

If the Help was opened by HH.exe its a separate executable
and so Alt+Tab / Shift+Alt_Tab can be used to switch apps
or the task bar,
