MSP 2002 and Windows 2003 + SP 1

I installed MSP 2002 onto a server with Win 2003 SP1 and at the beginning, I
got a message saying that the software was incompatiable with the OS, but
still offered a button to COntinue. Well asfter searching, I found this link
that says Project 2002 was compatialble with Win 2003 SP1
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/896367?#XSLTH4127121123120121120120

So I went ahead and installed Project Server 2002. Well I connected to an
existing database and the installation said sucessfully installed. However,
the web access doesn't work and neither does trying to access the server from
Project Professional 2002! I used a backup of a production database and
restored it on a test database server for this install.

Anyone else here has an installation of Project Server 2002 on a Windows
2003 SP1 server?

Thanks in advance!

Argh!! When I try to install the Microsoft Project Server 2002 Update: KB
319281, it goes almost to the end and then rolls back!! At the end it tells
me "Installation ended prematurely because of an error."

I have no idea what error and dont know where to begin looking for a log of
the install to find the error! Everything seems fine up to this point!
Project Server installed fine. I even installed Sharepoint Team Services
successfully (to a degree; when i try to "Provition additional Sharepoint Web
site for Project Server" I get a message telling me "Default Web SIte has the
AccessExecute file permission property set. Sharepoint Team Services cannot
provision a Web site with this property." I was following the directions from
http://www.kbalertz.com/kb_820774.aspx

I installed the XP service packs 1 and 2 but not 3 as the article suggested
the SP3 is not compatiable at this time with STS running on Windows 2003.
How do I even change the AccessExecute property so that I can continue the
Sharepoint install?

So now I have an install of Project Server 2002 that's not working (because
maybe the patch above won't install) and Sharepoint installed but the
configuration wizard wont run because of some AccessExecute property I dont
know how to change! and of course I can't get STS and Project server to
communicate until I can get Project to work!

What are I missing/doing wrong?!!

John:

For STS, you should set the virtual server to scripts only. I suggest
installing Project Server on the default website, and create a separate
virtual server for STS running on a different port.
