MSP 2002 Deleted Tasks still appearing

S

Sarah hmco

In project 2002, modifications were made to a live published project plan
where tasks without actuals had been removed and new tasks have been added.
The project was published and appears correctly within Project Center,
however the old tasks still appear in the resource timesheets and the new
tasks do not appear. The old tasks do not have a X next to them, and still
appear to be active on the timesheet.

Is there a reason why these removed tasks would still appear? Is there a
workaround to fix this?

Thank you

Sarah:

The reason why they still appear is that the tasks were deleted without
regard to the assignments already made against them. The quickest way to
recover from the orphaned assignments is to save your project as an mpp
file, delete the project from the server and import it fresh. There are
considerations when doing this with regard to SharePoint objects and for
preserving custom attributes assigned to tasks if you're using either of
these. In the future, you need to close out the assignments before deleting
tasks.
