MSP 2003 will not re-publish multiple assignments

I am currently attempting to republish assignments on an enterprise project
plan. When doing this in MSP once 'republish assignments' has been clicked
from the 'collaborate > publish' menu nothing further happens. This occurs
with different users at different location, but only for one plan.

If an individual task is selected it is possible to republish assignments,
however changing to 'entire project' in the 'publish assignments for...'
dropdown list causes the republish assignments dialogue box to close
immediately. I

f there are multiple assignments on the task selecting the 'republish
assignments' option has no effect.

I have saved a copy of the plan offline and have re-imported it to the
enterprise, although this has had no effect. Our setup consists of MSP
Project professional Entreprise with SP2 applied and approx 400 users (120 MS
Project users) and approx 600 project plans.

I appreciate this is probably an issue with the plan, however if anyone can
direct as to what it might be and how to correct it I would be very grateful.

Try saving the plan off as an mdb file or an mpd file and then re-save back
off as an mpp file. I am not sure if this will fix your problem but it
could clean up the file a bit. Compare the new mpp file with the old one to
see if it made is smaller. Try to re-import the plan and see if it
publishes.

Is it a specific task or any task that has assignments that is an issue?
Are there any special resources showing in the resource sheet?
