MSP 2007 Cube

Brian

In trying to build a cube (unsuccessfully) in MSP 2007 Beta, I've performed
the following steps:

1.) Taken a plan from our production instance of MSP 2003 and, using the
2007 project professional beta product, imported it into MSP Server 2007.
Prior to this I opened all periods back to October of 2004, since that was
the date that this project first began to record actual work. All of the
local resources were successfully mapped to enterprise resources.
2.) Published the plan, by choosing File > Publish.
3.) Logged into PWA 2007, navigated to Server Settings > Build Settings,
entered the appropriate information and clicked "Save and Build Now."

I have done this at least three times and each time I get the following
error in the Build Status area of PWA:
=====Process Completed=====
[11/6/2006 2:11 PM] Failed to build the OLAP cubes. Error: Analysis Services
session failed with the following error: Query (1,10) Parser: The syntax for
',' is incorrect.

I'm trying to take a look at the OLAP reporting capabilities in 2007. Can
someone steer me in the right direction? Is my process incorrect?

Thanks.

Are you using Analysis Services 2000 or 2005?
Analysis Services 2005 is not (yet) supprted by Projectserver 2007 Beta

Thanks, Guidho. I just checked with my DBA who said that the hotfix to
correct the connectivity between AS 2005 and MSP Server 2007 has been
installed. Since this error mentions a query parser, is it possible that
this is a problem with the SQL statement that the tool is trying to use? If
so, do you have any ideas?

Thanks again.

It seems like he is failing on the character ','
Any chance that you a ',' in one of your project or resource names?
In case you added the task dimension to the cube, also check task names.

Thanks again, Guidho. I found a task with a comma as well as an apostrophe.
I took both out, republished, rebuild the cube, and got the same result. I
found a message at

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=147344&SiteID=1

with the same error message. In this context, the issues surround DSO to
administer Analysis Services 2005 (not exactly sure what that means). This
is the only other place that I could find any information. Do you have any
other ideas?

Hmm, it might have something to do with the hotfix. Maybe you mist a
step of the installation...

However, I can't test this as I don't have the hotfix.

That's all I can think of right now.
