Our salespeeps sell jobs and, of course, the first question that comes up is "When I can I have it?
As Master Scheduler, I produce backlog charts showing our capacity for the upcoming weeks. I also have project templates for the various types of projects we manage in production. It would help if Sales could have a way of determining on their own when the next project can fit in to our backlog
I'm curious to know how some of you have addressed this.
Some examples of what I'm thinking about
1. A simple chart in Excel, each column being a week, the rows showing how much of each resource type occur in each week
2. Capturing the template Gantt in a bitmap and putting the totals hours for each week for each resource type on the bitmap
3. Writing a program, in which the salesperson enters the specs and the program spits out a date
Thanks for your input in advance
