MSP_NUMBER_FIELDS data not displaying in client

I am having a problem with the client not displaying values in a
enterprise task number field.

We are inserting data into Task Enterprise Number1, into the table
MSP_NUMBER_FIELDS and seeing the values go in correctly. We then
update the PROJ_EXT_EDIT flag for each of the projects affected in
MSP_PROJECTS. But we don't see the value when the project is opened,
even though the values are in the underlying table.

Is there another flag somewhere to indicate a project change? For some
projects, the client will display the data, but for probably 1/3 of
our projects it does not.

Any ideas?
