MSPS 2007 - Resource Utlization in Project Pro

T

Tim Mccoy

Why am I not seeing activities in other projects in my plan in Project Pro?

We do have the enterprise resource pool setup and are using PWA.

In MSPS 2003, when you were building a plan you could load in your resources
to activities and immediately see the total resource effect based on ALL
projects and not just the currrent project. This was very helpful when
loading in resources and helped immediately make sure you did not overbook
them before you published the resource changes. You did not have to keep
swapping back and forth between Project Pro and PWA.

In MSPS 2007 I only see the resources utlization (in the Resource Usage and
Resource Graph) for the current open project and not other projects the
resource is on.

Is there an alternate way (or setting) I should be using MSPS 2007 that is
different from MSPS 2003?

Thank you.

Launch Project Professional 2007 and then click Tools - Enterprise Options -
Microsoft Office Project Server Accounts. In the Project Server Accounts
dialog, select the "Manually control connection state" option and then click
the OK button. Exit and relaunch Project Professional 2007. In the Login
dialog, select the "Load Summary Resource Assignments" option and then click
the OK button. You should now be able to see the assignments in other
projects in the Resource Usage view for any enterprise project. Hope this
helps.
