MST Office 2003 Deployment Doesn't install word, if Access 97 foun

A

Adrian P. Thompson

I need to deploy to lots of machines, now I've created a MST file from the
ORK tools. I tell it to only install Word,Excel,Powerpoint.

It works as expected until you deploy to a machine with Access 97 on. The
package then installs Access 2003, leaves Access 97 and does NOT install
Word,Excel & Powerpoint ! It's a very wierd. Does anyone know or a work
around ?

Quick overview....
Package :-
Uninstall office 2k
Install Word,Excel,Powerpoint via MST & corporate office 2k3 pro
MST = Install Excel,Word,Powerpoint only. Others to not touch.

if no Access 97, works as expected.

if Access 97, install Access 2003 ONLY.

MST created by correct orktools.

Can anyone give me a pointer ?

What is the EXACT "Feature Installation State" for Access in the CIW?
And... did you change the defaults at all on the "Remove Previous Versions"
screen? Unless Access is set to either "Not Available" or "Not Available,
Hidden, Locked", it may indeed be installed (based on the feature
installation state). And.. unless you change the default "remove" for
Access on the "Remove Previous Versions" screen, you may see exactly what
you are seeing.

Hope this helps!
