MSWord 03 issues Please HELP!!!!!! Frustrated!!!

I am currently using office 2003 and Win XP. Ever since I upgraded to the
SP2 and greater I have had some serious conflicts. With Word, I cannot use
my external mouse or my internal mouse unless I go in and do a "detect and
repair" and then shut down word and then open it back up. Then I am able to
use my mouse. With Outlook 2003 the same thing occurs. I cannot use my
internal or external mouse in there, I am reduced to using the keyboard! I
have done the "detect and repair" on the Outlook as well and that method does
not effect Outlook.

I have updated the drivers for the mouse. That did not cure it. I got a
repair utility from Microsoft to correct the issues. This did not work
either.

My question is, does anyone know of any software that is NOT compatible with
the mouse software? I wondered if anyone has had problems with Blackberry
RIM desktop software? Not completely sure if my issues started happening
after I installed the RIM software or not. But if some has a thought, I
would love to hear it!!!

Yes, I am using Word as my e-mail editor for Outlook.

I am using the intellipoint software for my mouse. My mouse is a wireless
mouse as well. Can I just simply uninstall the software and use the
Microsoft software for my mouse? Not to sound completely green, but my
wireless mouse is still connected via a USB port, does this count for
anything?

THanks for your help!

I would be inclined to try uninstalling the intellipoint software and simply
use the Windows mouse driver. By a USB mouse I meant one with a wired
connection :)

Thank you for the suggestion and I did unistall the intellipoint software and
rebooted my computer, but problem still occurs. I even did the "detect and
repair" to see if that would take care of it and to no avail. I will try to
connect my corded mouse and see if the problem goes away.

Thank you for your help and further suggestions would be great!

Some people have reported that deleting or renaming the data key in the
registry (http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProblemsStartingWord.htm )
restores mouse operation in Word 2007, but I have not come across any
similar problems in Word 2003. It is simple enough to check whether this
will fix the problem. See if there's an update for your display driver.
After that I am out of ideas. Try a Windows forum.
