Multi-Column subreport in footer

My subreport, on its own, shows three columns when it is set to "down then
across."

When it is set to "Across then down" it shows only one column, with multiple
items all in that one column.

There must be something I do not understand about what these terms are meant
to mean.

Regardless of which way I have the subreport set, when I put it into my main
report, I can only get one column. with "Across then down" I get more data,
but not spread out across the page the way I want it. With "Down then
Across, I only get the first item in the report.

What am I doing wrong? What more do you need to know from me to have a clue?

The subreport control must be wide enough to display all columns and set to
Can Grow: Yes which will allow it to grow vertically. The subreport must be
set to display Across then Down.

If you have issues with some records not displaying, check the Link
Master/Child properties.

from the main report-- it gives me one column down the left side of the page
when set to "across then down". If I set it to "down then across" it gives
me three columns running across the page. This is puzzling to me.]

On the main report, the subreport is set to a width of 7.5 and the height is
set to .666. "Can grow" is set to "Yes."

When I preview the main report, I get one item, in one column in the footer,
at the left hand side of the page. Any other information has been truncated.

What am I doing wrong?

Have you checked the Link Master/Child properties to make sure they are
limiting the output to one record per instance?

OK. It's now 7.5 and was 2.5. This has not yet fixed the problem, but it's
a distinction I wasn't aware of.

Have you checked the Link Master/Child properties to make sure they are

Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. In the properties box, under Link
Master Fields and Link Child Fields, both say "FVFUnNo", which should, by
eyeball inspection of the underlying query give me three results--which I
would very much like to have line up in three pretty columns across the
bottom of the page. I'm still getting only one result showing.

Is there a different Link Master/Child property that can be saying some
version of "Only show one"?

Actually the subreport should be as narrow as possible. The size of the
subreport "control" on the main report should be wide to fit multiple
columns.

Both the subreport and the section containing it should be set to allow
growth.

If the stuff that I have suggested doesn't work, you may have a corrupt
report and need to rebuild from scratch.
