Multi-Level Timesheet approval in PS2007

Hi Guys =),

Im needing to configure multi-level timesheet approval for our organization
and we are using project server 2007. Can anyone provide specifics on how to
set this up please? I see the pick next approver boxes but it only seems to
work once when the resource submits the timesheet. Here's whats happening:

Resource submits the timesheet and the default timesheet approver is set to
the project manager. Upon submission the project manager is able to approve
the timesheet. After project manager approval i need it to go to a third
approver which is accounting. The problem is that when the project manager
selects the accounting username in the pick next approver box and clicks
approve the timesheet gets fully approved. The accounting user doesnt get
the reminder that they have a new timesheet for approval and they arent able
to approve it. The status of the timesheet is approved.

Am i doing something wrong here, is there anything else setup wise i need to
configure? Ive been all through the setup menus and cant find anything
intuative. Any help here would be great, Thanks =)

Also, is there a way to have the next approver receive an email notification
that they have a new timesheet to approve? I have notifications for tasks
etc configured but couldnt find an option for timesheets. Thanks

I believe what you need to do is to enable the Accept Timesheets permission
for your PM's (but not the Approve Timesheets permission) and then enable
the Approve Timesheet permission for the accounting people. The Approve
Timesheet permission formally ends the timesheet approval process, so
whoever has that permissions stops the approval process. Hope this helps.

That worked!!, thanks again for the help =)

Any idea on how to configure email notification for timehseets so that the
approver gets an email when they have a new timesheet to approve? Thanks in
advance =)

I am very pleased to know that this solution worked. It was not an obvious
solution was it? I reported this issue as a potential bug to Microsoft, and
one of their folks from the Project Server development team told me how this
process works. One of the small priviledges of being an MVP! :)

On the other issue, I have no idea how to configure e-mail notification
about timesheets to approve. I'm not sure that functionality is built into
the system. Lacking that, I would make this a training and performance
issue with your timesheet approvers. Hope this helps.
