Multi-Line text values in excel?

Maniaque

Hi,

We've recently started using OWC to provide users with an easy upload
screen - Excel's interface is very familiar to most PC users, which is
why we selected it.

We recently discovered that we cannot get line breaks within text
values, in individual cells of the excel sheet. If we try to enter data
that has line breaks already, the line breaks simply disappear.

I've been unable to find much documentation on the objects or their
event model, so I don't know whether this is an inherent limitation of
the OWC Excel object, or whether it is due to something else (eg we are
using HTML as the data type of the data to be displayed).

Can anyone help understand?

Thanks!

The cells render in pure text and do not honor any sort of line feed
requests. This is by design with no known workaround.

One approach to this problem is to embed a hyperlink element into the cell
which navigates to a page where the full text can be displayed.

The eventing model is covered extensively in the black book as well as in
the office web component toolpack which is a free download available from
Microsoft office website.
