Multi-user but one Outlook

F

Fernand Thill

Hello,
I want to step over from OE to Outlook (2000 that goes with my actual
Office)but there are some questions arraising, where I am looking for help
and advices.
1. On my lap I have 2 users (both mines) , one in the office on LAN with
proxy, the other for home on modem. But I want both users use the same
Outlook, with the same Inbox, contacts, sent items, ... How can I do that?
Where are the different folders located and how can I bring the 2 instances
to use the same folder location, but also avoid that messages are stored
twice. I leave indeed always a copy for 30 days on the provider side.
2. Beside, my main home PC is a desktop that I want also to migrate to
Outlook 2000. How can I synchronise lap and desktop, knowning that my actual
connexion is a USB-PClinq.
Thanks for help
Fernand

I have another similar question. If I have one outlook program at home, can
my wife and I both have different user accounts with different calendar, etc.
but one outlook program?

You can reference the same message store in two mail profiles, one for each
Windows account.
Where are the different folders located and how can I
bring the 2 instances to use the same folder location, but also avoid
that messages are stored twice. I leave indeed always a copy for 30

See this for file locations: http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm .
You can put the PST in a folder that both Windows accounts can access. As
for downloading the same message twice, that will probably happen if each
mail profile references the same ISP servers. What you should do, then, is
allow the account in only one of the two profiles to download the messages.
You can allow the account in both profiles to send messages.

Alternatively, you can allow the account in each profile to download the
messags, but use rules to sort the messages received in one to a separate
folder and then move the non-duplicates back to the Inbox, if that's what
you want. Another alternative is to purchase a duplicate eliminator
program. There are many available on the Internet. Search for "Outlook
eliminate duplicate messages"
2. Beside, my main home PC is a desktop that I want also to migrate to
Outlook 2000. How can I synchronise lap and desktop, knowning that my
actual connexion is a USB-PClinq.

See if something here helps: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm
