Hi, I haven't been able to find a post to meet my need...
I am working with a Professor who is trying to create an exam outline. He
would like a list that appears like this:
01. Here is the first question. He wants the number 01. followed by a
tab and
would like the question to wrap under the text.
a.) He then wants to have his answers indent in with a letter,
and have the
text wrap underneath the text, not the letter.
b.) next answer
c.) next answer
I'm sure you get the idea - it's a typical outline. Anyway, that is really
not the problem - Word can certainly handle that. However, he would like to
have an "answer" exam with an asterisk (*) next to the correct answer, but
the asterisk should line up with the main numbering line. For example:
01. Here is a question
a.) answer 1
* b.) answer 2
c.) answer 3
In the example above, "b" indicates the correct answer.
Is there a way to make Word do this using the mulitlevel list feature? I
can't figure out how to put the symbol at the beginning of line followed by
an indented subnumber. It seems like he could create something using custom
tab stops, but that would mean typing in all the numbering and making sure to
tab appropriately.
I've never used Word Perfect, but he mentioned that WP was able to do this.
Here at the school he does not have access to WP. It seems that whenever I
deal with a former WP user, they come in to MS Word kicking and screaming.
So, I try to show them the "wows" of MS Word. I'm really hoping to come up
with a solve for him on this and would appreciate any feedback. But, please
don't tell me to go back to Word Perfect!
Thanks!
