Multiple Accounts in MS Office

MS Office Student and teacher comes with 3 licenses. We have two users
on one iMAC. Office was installed in one of them and shows up on the
dock. In the other you have to go to the finder. All of the default
information (name, email address etc.) that is entered during the
install shows up in both iMac accounts. Is there a way to have the
information default the the particular user or do I have to install
Office twice (or at least use up two licenses) on the same computer in
order to make that happen.

Thanks

You *don't* need to use another license for the same computer, nor to
re-install it. Installing a program installs it for the entire computer
unless you go out of your way to make it not so.

This is just a design flaw in the setup process, that it extends such info
to all accounts on the computer--it's not any legal limitation on using the
program. Just change the information in the second account by hand. If you
are using Entourage, edit the Me contact and I think the rest of the
programs will pick it up on next launch. If you aren't using Entourage, try
Word | Preferences | User Information--but check Excel and PPT preferences
to make sure they picked it up on next launch, I can't quite remember
whether they do.

By the way, I think you just drag the application icon to the dock to get it
there. Check MacHelp if that doesn't work.

Daiya, you seem to be very knowledgeable. Please help with a similar
problem: I bought Office:mac 2004 Student and Teacher Edition. It
offers the possibility to install the software 3 times, in different
computers. I installed it first in my daughter's new iBook and it
worked fine. Then I installed it in my Apple Power Book G4, and it
showed a conflict with the installation on the other computer. So I
thought maybe we used twice the same Product Key, so I did the
installation again on my G4 with a different Product Key, and used the
Remove Office icon to remove all the previously installed Office
software from my computer. Now I'm in deep trouble: I cannot open
Entourage, I get the message "This identity cannot be opened with this
version of Entourage" (although it worked fine initially). Word, Power
Point and Excel open, but I get the message "An unexpected error
occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Framework library". What
can i do to make the software work properly? I've only followed the
Setup Assistant to do the installation, so I don't understand what is
happening. At least I can open Word, but Entourage, where I have
zillions of messages from work, and about one thousand contacts, I
cannot open.

Thanks much for your useful reply. Next time i guess i'll ask before i
do reinstall or remove, so i don't do any harm to my computer. I'll
follow-up your suggestions.
