Multiple address book entries

Since I started synching Entourage 2008 with my Mac Address Book, it has added FIVE copies of each entry to my address book in Entourage. It's getting ridiculous. What can I do to stop this happening?

this point.

I have between 4 and 8 copies of every contact. The contacts with 8 entries
are in multiple 'groups' in the real Address Book, so I suspect that E'rage
just plays badly with AddressBook groups.

This was tested, right? By non-employees?

You can use one of the remove duplicate scripts until a solution is found to
fix this.

Be sure to use the one for iCal. I suspect that once an application triggers
a duplicate, it's then duplicated then sent back to duplicate again making
it a round robin of errors.

There's a script that might do the job for you, but I can't say for sure
whether it works with Entourage *2008* or not. See this page for more

I don't see this duplication on my machine. Also, groups are simply
collections of contacts; they do not add new contacts to Address Book, they
only represent a filtered view of all the Address Book contacts. In other
words, they can't be responsible for this duplication, especially since
Entourage is not aware of these groups when its contacts are being synched
to Address Book.

I am hesitant to touch anything as the address books are linked. The last
thing I want is for changes in entourage to wipe out contacts in Address
Book.

Well, so far my Address Book is unpolluted by dupes, which is why I am
leaving everything alone. I only have to use Entourage another few days
anyway.

This must be a bug. I have the same symptoms and the Contacts are breeding. i only have 3 currently, but I'm sure as time goes on I'll find the numbers increasing. I've left Address Book as my authoritative source for contacts, and synch from Address Book to Entourage only, so every week I'm just planning on turning off address book sync erasing all Entourage contacts and turning sync back on...

For any interested, since I did a clean install when Leopard was released and have not had another Office install on the machine until 2008 (standard). Not sure if only certain installs would be effected, but if others with issues can post their install history it might help to isolate the issue.

I was having the same problem with duplicate entries in the Entourage address book. I came across this guide to setting up syncing, and so far there haven't been any problems. :knock on wood: It's kind of a long workaround, but it will hopefully clear things up until a fix is issued.

I don't understand. This feature isn't functioning. When I turn on the sync with Address Book choice, it just creates and keeps creating multiple same address book entries.

Isn't this a huge bug? What gives?
