Multiple calendar entries

I am using Outlook 2003. When someone sends me a meeting invitation,
it automatically puts a Tentative acceptance of the meeting on my
calendar. Problem is, when I accept, I have two entries, one that I've
said I'd come, one still showing as Tentative. If I decline, it leaves
the Tentative one on my calendar. I feel like I've checked the obvious
setups in Outlook, but can't seem to fix this.

Any ideas?
