Multiple computers

I am still using Office 2000 because one copy works for both my home and
home-office computer.

I am about to replace one of the computers and would buy the newest
Office if it worked on both. Otherwise, I'll stay with 2000.

Exactly what is the understanding with using the new Office on two
computers?
