Multiple contact folders How do I set the Default

T

Tbrox

I have 2 personal address books and one LDAP address book. When writing an email I click the to: icon to choose a name from my address book. Currently the LDAP list is the default however I want one of the local address books to be the default.

Can I change this setting?

We can't answer if you don't post your Outlook version.
Are you really using PAB's? You should be using the Outlook Address Book and
Contacts Folders, not PAB's.

I'm sorry I ment to post the version. Outlook 2002 on a PC. I don't know what PAB is. As far as I know I'm using the Address book and contact folders. I'm not on anykind of exchange server if that helps. I have an LDAP address book setup to get addresses from my company over the internet connection.

Tell me what you are really using, then.
When you go to Tools > Options > E-mail Accounts > View or change existing
directories or address books, what do you see?

When I open e-mail accounts I see a windows that has:
E-mail
Add a new e-mail account
View or change existing e-mail accounts

Directory
Add a new directory or address book
View or change existing directories or address books

When I choose to view or change existing directories or address books I get a window that shows 2 address books
Outlook Address book MAPI
SMCCD LDAP
The only options here are to "Change" "Add" or "Remove"

If I choose my Outlook address book a new window open up that is titled Microsoft Outlook Address book with a window that contains the following:
Business division contacts: Personal Folders
Contacts: Personal Folders

The only options here are to "Remove Address book" "Close" or to "Show names by:
First Last (John Smith) or File As (Smith, John)

Hope this information helps you help me.

So where do the Contacts reside that you want to display? Are they in an
LDAP or a Contacts Folder?

Then open the Address Book and go to Tools > Options...
There you can select which folder to display first.
