Multiple Design Templates in same file

Per the help file (PowerPoint 2003) I can apply multiple design templates to
a presentation. I've gone through the steps, selected the slide or slides in
the "Slides" pane, when I clcik on the arrow to the right of the design I
want I only see "Apply to All Slides" and "Show Large Previews). Per the help
file I should also see "Apply to selected slides" but this is NOT available.
(Office 2003, WinXP Pro both have all the latest updates).

First, do you have any slides in the file? Next, are you sure you have a
slide selected? I know that sounds like a stupid question, but I also know
that if you are clicked between slides in the slide miniature list, you
can't apply to selected slides.

In the test file I have 10 slides and in the slides pane I've selected two
slides (slides one and three). In the Slide design pane when I click on the
arrow for the design I want to use there is no option to apply to selected
slides. I have PP 2003 installed, this is on a recent rebuild of my HD, I
started with the IBM factory reload and then installed office 2003 as well as
a bunch of other applications.

Ok. Next thing to check: Go to Tools--> Options, Edit tab. Make sure that
the last three boxes are all unchecked. It sounds like somehow the new
features got turned off.

SUPER BIG THANKS! The "Multiple Masters" was checked, removing the check for
this now gives me the option to apply a design to selected slides. Again
thanks!

I have another question for you. I've created a new design template but I
cannot see the preview of it in the "Slide Design" pane. I'm informed that
"Preview not available". When I assign it to a presentation it works but I
cannot see the preview. All of the other previews are available. I made the
design from an existing presentaion (I'm running PP 2003) but I don't know
what version of PP the original presentation was made from.
