multiple Endnotes

My document needs to have endnotes referenced with
multiple references such as [4-7]. In this case, how do I
create a reference 5 or 6, since it is not specifically
listed? I could use [4,5,6,7] but this is incorrect format
and will not be accepted.

Insert all the footnotes in the usual way, but don't bother with commas
between the references. Then insert an en dash after the first reference
number in the group and select all the rest of the numbers except for the
last and format them as Hidden.
