Multiple Entries for 1 Field

S

Shelley

Hi, I am using Infopath 2007 with Moss 2007.

I created a form with the following fields:

Name Training Course Date(From) Date(To) Facilitator

If 1 person attends multiple training sessions, I would like to enter that
information by just entering the person's name once and then filling out the
training courses, dates etc........

When creating the form, is there a specific control to be used to enable
this? What exactly is needed for this?

Thanks,
Shelley

Hi Shelley,

One was of doing this is as follows:
You can have a repeating table. This will contain 2 things:
a) a field for entering person's name
b) a repeating table which contains remaining fields (Training
Course, Date(From), Date(To), Facilitator)

Such a structure can help you to fill in multiple training courses for
a single person.

Hope this helps. Do let me know if you need further information.

Hi,

Add one repeating node in below of name field in the person information
group and move Training, Course, Date(From), Date(To) , Facilitator nodes
under the repeting node. Add one repeating section with, Course, Date(From),
Date(To) , Facilitator under the “Name†field in the person information
section.

I hope this will help you.

Hi Paresh, thanks for your response...... I tried what you said and it's
working fine in that I am able to make multiple entries for 1 person. 1
thing I would like to know though - on 1 form i would like to make the
multiple entries and have the different entries show up in the Forms Library,
for example

Name Training Course Date(From) Date(To) Facilitator
Tom Moss 2007 7/28/2008 7/28/2008 Shelley
Office 2007 7/29/2008 7/29/2008
Shelley

The fields created are columns in the Forms Library in Moss 2007. It does
not show up in the Forms Library how it's displayed above. I will only be
able to see the first entry and to see the entries below I would have to
actually click to open up the form...........
The entry is being saved as 1 template.....I'm assuming that's the reason
but is there any way for all the information in 1 template to be shown in the
forms library?

Thanks again,
Shelley

If I am understanding correctly, I think, you want to expose form
fields as columns (metadata) in the sharepoint form library page
(AllItems.aspx). If this is what you are looking for, you can expose
the form fields while publishing.

Also you can take a look at the following link:
http://techblog.udayakumar.net/2007/02/creating-publishing-infopath-form-using.html
http://www.sharepointblogs.com/mdlo...nfopath-2007-and-sharepoint-site-columns.aspx

Although, I have tried this with multiple repeating tables scenario,
but I hope, this should work.

Do let me know in case, if this helps or you need further information.

Thanks,
Paresh

Hi Paresh, thanks again for your response......I dont think i explained
myself properly :-(
When I publish the form to Moss, I do add the columns to the forms library
so that isn't the issue.
However, when i enter multiple entries for 1 person such as user Tom takes
several training courses, that isn't displayed in the forms library.
For example - I enter the information in the form as follows:

Name Training Course Date(From) Date(To) Facilitator
Tom Office 2007 2/15/2008 2/17/2008 Shelley
Moss 2007 7/10/2008 7/15/2008
Shelley

This entry will be made at once and saved as the same template. Now in the
forms library under the specific columns, I'm expecting to see what is
displayed above.....However, that isnt' the case. All I'll see is the first
entry and to get the 2nd entry made I will have to click on the link to the
form and then i'll be able to see all the entries for Tom. That isn't what i
want. In the forms library itself, for Tom I would like to see all the
training courses he attended......
I hope i'm clarifying any misunderstanding of my question.

Thanks again,
Shelley

Hi Paresh, I was able to get the multiple entries in the form to be displayed
in the columns in the Forms Library - when publishing the form to the Moss
2007 site, I set the function for the fields to be "Merge" and with that all
the entries are being displayed.......
However, there's another issue - in the forms library I want to be able to
filter the information in all the columns. Right now the only 1 being
filtered is the "Name" column. How is it possible to get all the columns to
be filtered?

Greatly appreciated,
Shelley
