Multiple errors on reinstall of Office 2003 Standard

My OEM PC came with a trial version of Office 2003 Student and Teacher. I
purchased that version and installed it. I had a number of problems with my
PC and had to get new recovery disks from manufacturer. When I reformatted
and installed with the recovery disks, Office Trial was not on the recovery
disks. I assumed it was because the trial period had expired.

I did some reading and decided to do a complete install of Office 2003. I
then used the Administrative install file to update to SP2. Even though it
said that the install was completed successfully and that the update to SP2
was completed successfully, the setup log has a number of errors. Also, my
office updates shown in automatic updates will not install automatically.

There is a error 2848 and then another that says that this version of office
must be customized during the install process. Another error that says a
certain Tahoma font could not be located. Another says another version of
Office is located on the drive and it must be removed before the new one can
be installed. Could this be the trial?

Do I need to do an uninstall and then try to reinstall using just the
standard install? Should I use the MS uninstall utility? I need to get this
working for a job I must complete this evening. Please help ASAP!!!

I did an uninstall from Add/Remove programs--started the windows uninstall
cleaner and it did not show Office as being installed so I reinstalled with
custom install. Everything was fine for awhile. I finished installing all
the updates from the Web for Office that appeared after my reinstall. I also
installed Framework 2 and I think that caused a problem because now the entry
in printers for Office image scanner has disappeared again.

Do I try another reinstall or do I try a repair? If I do a repair will it
pick all the udpates for Office that it had be load in automatic updates?
Also, I installed Rollup 2 and Framework 2 from downloaded files on my
desktop so I could turn off autoprotect on Norton Internet Security 2006. I
read somewhere that Framework should be installed before Office is installed.
I did have Framework 1.1 with appropriate updates installed before loading
Office for the first time.
