Multiple Files Open on Launch of Excel

When I launch Excel on Mac v X, multiple files open form desktop or
other locations. Not critical, but anyoying. Solutions other than
re-installing Office v X?

other locations. Not critical, but anyoying. Solutions other than
re-installing Office v X?

For starters:

Take any files you don't want to open out of the Microsoft Office
X:Office:Startup:Excel folder (leave the Personal Macro Workbook if
desired).

Delete any entry in the Preferences/General/Alternate startup file
location textbox.
