Multiple Flags for Contacts in Outlook 2002

Have Outlook 2002 and am trying to perform the same task a number of
times and would like to create a macro to accomplish this. As I have
no experience in this area I was wondering if someone has already
produced it. The task is:

Select outlook contacts required and assign each one with a flag to:
Send Letter to allow me to search for all contacts with this flag.

It seems simple but I can't get seem to find a solution.
Any help very much appreciated
