multiple headers and footers

All,

In word, is there the ability to get different headers on different pages?

I have a situation where i have my main document with my company's header on
it. We need to prepend another company's document (with the other company's
letterhead/logo in the header) to ours. Then at the end of these two
combined documents, add two more documents that have no header and use
different page numbers.

Basically we want to save the full "package" of documents off as one file,
and when printing the file(s) the print job will print all contents in the
"package". The 4 different documents each have a unique look and feel to
them though (i.e. different headers and footers.

Recap:

First page is another company's logo/letterhead in header.
Next 2-4 pages our my company's document with my company's header and footer
(which includes the page number).
Next 2 pages are another published document with no header and page number
starting at 1.
Next page is yet one more published documetn with no header and pager number
starting at 1.

Is this possible? I assume that i would need to logically seperate the
seperate documents with a section break in order to do this, if it is even
possible.

Thanks in advance.

There are several ways to have different headers and footers. You can have
up to three different headers/footers in each section (First Page
Header/Footer, Even Page Header/Footer, Odd Page Header/Footer), but in your
situation your best best is to insert section breaks between the disparate
documents and unlink the header/footer (click the Same As Previous button on
the Header and Footer toolbar to turn it off).

We had a similar need for different header/footer on each page of a
document. Here is a link to how we do it, scroll down to WORD 2000 -
Supressing A Header:

http://www.luc.edu/infotech/document/wpword/hd-foot.html

Essentially you - Insert, Break, Next Page at the bottom of the page
before you want a different H/F, open the H/F toolbar and click the 9th
button over(Same as Previous - button)which disables the link between
that pages H/F and the one previous to it.

Hope this helps, it's one of those questions where you have to know the
answer before you can see it spelled out in Word's help. (Search for
"Same as Previous" in help).
