You don't need the tools in the dialog, it merely has to be open to provide
access to customization of the menu and toolbar items directly. With the
customize dialog open, open the errant tools menu, then select with the
mouse + left button and drag the items off the menu and drop in the text
space. You may not even need to use customize - it should be possible to use
ALT+drag to drag the unwanted items off the menu.
