Multiple margins

Is there some way to create two sets of margins that I could switch back and forth between simply without constantly resetting the pointers in the ruler bar? I was able to do this previously by creating a macro which was pretty cool. But I understand that one cannot create macros in the 2008 version.

I'm guessing you could probably accomplish this with Styles.

Correct, no macros. Some options:

Are you applying two sets of margins in the *same* document? If these
are two separate documents, then you can create a template with the
margins preset and just create a doc from that template.

Do you have Home and Student or Standard version? There is a built-in
Automator action to Set Document Settings that will let you set margins
in a couple clicks. But it applies to the entire document, in a quick test.

AppleScript can probably handle changing the margins, though, as a
substitute. Haven't tried it, but it ought to be possible, I think. Can
you paste the text of the old macro? that helps. Especially if you want
them to apply "from this point forward."

Oops, good point. Styles will not handle margins, as such. But you can
apply an indent or negative indent with Styles, which has roughly the
same visual appearance. There *are* a lot of people using Margins when
what they really want is an Indent, though (especially for letterhead).
So if you can explain why and how you are frequently changing margins,
we can help you sort out a way to do it efficiently.

Section breaks....

Each Section Break can have its own page setup.

Save your two favourite Section breaks as AutoText and assign each a
keystroke. Then you can switch margins whenever you like.

NOTE: A Section Break controls the text BEFORE it, up to the bottom of the
previous section break. Remember that, and don't get confused.

Cheers
