multiple numbering schemes not working properly

Word xp
Trying to have two numbering schemes as described in How
to 291283 Method 1. However, the footer takes its
guidance from the header. If the header is Sheet 1 of 3
and the footer should be page 6, the footer will be page
2 (header number plus one)
I am entering the field code {={seq variable2 \c}+
{page}} correctly but it doesn't count the total number
of pages.

The total number of pages is shown by the NumPages field, not the Page
field.
