Powerpoint cannot read file

Word: The file cannot is not available

Excel: Unable to Read file

I researched the knowledge based articles. The only solution suggested was
to download the Office XP update. I already had it before the error.

What other options are there?

Perform a Repair procedure from any of the Office programs
by clicking Detect and Repair from the Help menu.

Detect and Repair from the Help tab requires the CD. I do not have the CD.

Since Office is almost $500, you might want to start looking for the disk.

If you're using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the
Office Plugin that comes with it. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820 "How to use Office
programs with the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in" for more
information.

I think the problem may be officeupdate.microsoft.com. I removed Office XP
and I found a lower version of office (2000). Without any updates from the
site for 2000, it seems to work fine, but after installing, Service Pack 1,
3, and Outlook, Excel, Word, Office, and Powerpoint updates, the program gave
me the same results as XP.

Unable to read file, This file is not available, Powerpoint cannot read file.

Any comments?

This is an Office update progress. I can Install Service Pack 1 and 2
without any problems of reading Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc.

I know that Service Pack 3 is the officeupdate that is causing the problems.

I also know that there are five updates that follow service pack 3, but
there is no way to know if the five followed updates are causing problems, or
if it is only service pack 3.

Also, in one of the previous comments, it was possibly suggested that the
problem could be with Norton Antivirus. I went into Add/Remove Programs and
removed Norton Antirvirus. I will re-install it later.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should deal with service pack 3?
