Multiple password prompts when logging into Outlook 2003

I have a user within our organization that is working on a Windows XP Pro SP2
desktop. He is using Office 2003 with an Exchange account setup for Outlook.
RPC over HTTP is configured for this account.

Regardless if he is online through the VPN or not, when he opens Outlook it
prompts him for his password sometimes 15-20 times. Sometimes it is only 4-8
times he must enter the password. I did notice that occassionally, between
password submissions, it will start to update folders a few MB.

Any idea why this password prompt is occuring so many times? It should be
one password submission and thats it. At least, this is how it works for all
our users onsite and remotely.
