Greetings,
My client is running Outlook 2003 and uses the pop configuration to connect
and use the company Domino server. This works fine.
Incoming mail server (POP3): mail.company1.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.company1.com
He also has it configured to access another account for a side business.
In the past he had trouble with the outgoing SMTP server, so he left it as
shown below:
Incoming mail server (POP3): mail.company2.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.company1.com
This worked great and recipients saw his Company2 address. As expected, the
header shows the Company1 server the mail was sent through and he wants to
get rid of that, so, hoping his old config problem went away, I had him
change the outgoing SMTP to what it should be, mail.company2.com. Much to
our chagrin, the mail went out, but the sender showed the company1 email
address! What gives? It was the exact opposite of what we wanted.
I verified all of his settings for both accounts and, when sending the mail,
made sure that he switched to the appropriate account.
Any ideas on how to ensure that the proper sender account is represented and
why this happens?
Thanks in advance!
Charlie
